5th Reflection

5th Reflection : Evaluation of other groups.

Previously in apk class, I've learnt that by evaluating other groups, we can identify their weaknesses and strength and then take the good values that the other team have. Like the Malays' saying "buang yang keruh, ambil yang jernih". its means that to take only good things and throw away what is not good for us. From this evaluation process, it can test how critical we were on questioning and answering about our business. Sometimes, something that never crossed our mind had been asked by my fellow lecture mates. This can improve our critical thinking skill and made us a more critical thinkers in the future. Question like, "If you want to deliver the goods to your customer, why would you use PosLaju not FedEx?", is really mindblowing.

Other than that, I've also learnt that the importance to have a good English and communication skill. As this is vital in answering and questioning other team about their business and vice versa. We have to show our good attitudes in answering their question such as smiling and not easily become angry and depress when they are asking sometimes a rather stupid question. This trained us to be friendly to our customer in the future if their demand a hard-to-do things.

Overall, the previous class do help us in many ways. (^^,)Y peace!

5th reflection

REFLECTION

Q : What had I learnt ?
A : The last class we were combined with group 4 to finish our task. We had to identify nine of characteristic in business for other groups. Nine of it : key partners, key activities, key resources, cost structure, value proposition, customer relationships, channels, revenue streams and customer segments.
We were divided by several teams to finish the task and at the same time, some of our members were played the role as ‘customer service centre’ in order to let other groups evaluate our company.
We prepared some questions to be asking to the others based on nine characters above. This slot helps our group to fixed our problem and preparing a better report for our project.

Q : How do I feel?
A : It is not easy to question others about their business as me myself not really well-knowledge on their field. So with the guide of nine characteristics it helps me and a lot.

Q : When and how do I apply?
A : The characteristics help in preparing a better paper work in business and involve all aspect. Thus I can apply this guideline when doing business. In study, this show us that we have to prepare the framework/key line before we proceed to another steps in order to make it follow the flow of work perfectly.

Reflection (8/11/2012)

Learning about evaluating other groups actually helped us about knowing what strength and weaknesses others have and thus compare it with what we already have in order to make our own company (group) better. Last week’s lesson also taught us about teamwork since we are not working alone in doing the evaluation and also we are not the only group that carried out the specific evaluation on the specific segment. We need to have good communication with one another and learn about consideration on who speak first and who speak next.

Other things we can learn about last week’s lesson are about body language. By studying the body language and the content of what the other group have to say about their product we can actually learn about either they understand or not about the things that they saying.

We can actually apply this in everyday life, especially when we were offered with something and we need to make good consideration of the offer before we make our decision. On the other hand, we also can make use of these evaluation skills in, of course, improving ourselves. Study and determine what we lacking of and we need to improve more.

4th Reflection

What I've learnt?

Previously, I think, the topic is very relevant for the development of the student's softskills. The activity conducted was spearheaded to boost the self-confidence in students. Even I am not involved in the presentation, I can feel how hard it is to talk in front of 300+ people. In order to attract peoples attention, there are some basic element in the presentation that a person need to have. such as:

  1. Expression
  2. Space
  3. Body Language
  4. Eye Contact
  5. Voice
  6. Linguistic
And we should AVOID pauses between the sentences that come out from our mouth. Taking those into account, will surely making you a good presenter.
Terima Kasih. Thank You.

Reflection (31 October 2012)

For the previous class… The main focus was about soft skill… So what I’ve learnt is that, I real corporate world is it very important to have a very strong soft skill… Learning soft skill in theory (like what I do most of the time) is not enough… Practical is crucial… However, to actually practice it some aspects must be exceeds, such as our comfort zone…

Having soft skill is not only important for business life alone or corporate world alone but also important in our life as student and in whatever job we pursue later on… It also important for our relationship, with family, friends and other community to have effective communication and business in whatever business we having in life…

4th Week Reflection
Lesson of the week
Everybody is special in their very own way.
During APK lesson last week, Miss Elaine ask us to say Hi confidently to everyone in the lecture hall; interesting way to start the class (in an energetic and enthusiastic manner). After that, the star jump and yeay!! session was to increase our alertness which is essential to an entrepreneur to become at the top of his game.
An Entrepreneur should have:
v  Facial Expression
v  Space
v  Voice
v  Linguistic
v  Fluency
v  Body Action
v  Eye Contact
We are requires to express our inner entrepreneur by doing presenting our group’s product “SuperNova” to our customers in the lecture hall. From there we are able to judge and learn from other’s mistake and to improve ourselves. The most memorable presentation is the one with the umbrella in which the presenter used a prop as a visual aid.
Feeling on that day
Excited and it was a fun lesson as we apply what we learn to our products as it is an important quality we should have when we are learning. The knowledge we gain must be applicable or else it’s better not to learn!!
Where can I apply this?
I am having a presentation next week for my English subject and I wish to apply the entrepreneur qualities in my presentation. Practice makes perfect!! And not to forget the FUTURE

 ~Calvin Fernandes~

Last week, there are two activities, that is greet and do a short presentation.

In first activity , we will act as an entrepreneur when shaking . This will make us understand the characteristic as an entrepreneur. In the second akitvity, which makes a short presentation. This brief presentation to be done for each group by bringing three representatives from each group to present.

In this activity, I know that in the world of entrepreneurship, the product should be promoted and encouraged for the product presentation is to show customers that the product will be marketed.

I hope someday when I promote my product, the presentation is the best way to show everyone about my product..

~Dinie LCK~

*PROBLEMS & LIST OF POTENTIAL SUPPLIERS IN MARKETING*

~Problems~

1. Competitor

Within a market businesses are faced with direct competitors. These are firms that produce the same or very similar goods and in our case we have a lot of company who producing earphone/headphone. However, most product are differentiated in some way and our product have our own unique selling point which is we allow our customer to customize their own item(s) with their own creativity.

2. Supplier

In this market we have to face many problems that involve in supply component for our item(s). At first place the problem is about the supplier refuse to deal with our company. Generally, businesses may decide the best supplier for our own company but the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 does not give everybody an absolute right to be supplied in whatever the circumstances so it will lead to several problems on having the best supplier.

3. Promotion

Personal selling-lack of employee who can make it person-to-person or face-to-face communication between seller and prospective potential buyers. Mass communication/direct marketing (advertising –due to advertising many forms and usages, it is difficult to make generation).

4. Ineffective Institutional Memory.

Accurate information, history of pervious passes and failures, and the ability to recognize patterns that link seemingly unrelated data points is important in marketing. Unfortunately, knowledge in many marketing are  not arranged in an orderly manner. It's in the heads of individual workers, on shelves, on people's hard drives, in long forgotten filing systems. When people leave, the knowledge of the company will loss. Information loss is a huge productivity killer for marketing teams.

5. Restricted creativity

The contribution of many people in a task will produce a good creativity. A consequence of the individual contribution is constrained creativity. When the entire creative burden falls mostly on one outbound marketing person, the ability to think out of the box can be severely impacted. Creative synergy results from many minds thinking as one.

6. Narrow marketing mix

Many companies are depending with the success of too few marketing programs. Whether it is lead generation, public relations, trade shows or advertising, the whole dependence  on any one particular program can derail a company-especially if a key program unexpectedly loses momentum. In the meantime, programs that could have had strong leverage never get a chance to prove their mettle.
